Just installed factory electric rear sunshade

Hi Gang,


OK I am smiling with self pride, I know that is vein, and shows no humility, but I have been on the mission since I bought my W8.

VW initially planned on offering the W8 with an electric rear sunshade. I have searched all the known sources on the planet and eventually was able to source one of a handful of prototype electric sunshade switches for the car.

See photo link. Lower right switch to the nav unit.

OK having found the holy grail of switches, the next task was what to do about a sunshade, after collecting various BMW, Audi and VW pieces to play Dr. Frankenstien with I ended up with a complete rear parcel shelf with sunshade motor and relays from a 2004 Audi A4. Well after 4 days of custom fitting, etc.. you cannot tell that the installed results are anything other than factory.

Here is a really crummy .mov of the shade in action, sometime in the few days I will post a better clip, but I just had to get this post out there =)

I have no manual but I am willing to post step by step directions, as well as I can. It will take some time.

Does anyone have access to some skoda center air vents?

I have another project I would like to try, installation of an Audi RNS-E nav system into our cars, has anyone tried this?
