VW navi in Bj. 1997 möglich?

I'm very sorry about the language, I do speek german but my grammar is very bad. I ask this here because you guys have more experience with 97 passats then the guy at clubb5.

My passat is built in 97, which means it has the green interior light instead of blue/red. It also came with the premium 3 radio (old style). I have already done the double-din conversion on my car, so I can fit the navi in but will the wiring work? The reason I ask this because my car and all passat 96-97 (I think) did not come wired with what we in the US call a "k-wire". Not sure what you guys call it but its basically the wire that lets the radio communicate with the computer. Is this wire neccesary for the navi to work? Has anyone here successfully put a double din navigation in a 96 or 97 passat?

no, my car doesnt have the speed sensor wired in. No US car has it since we dont get the gala radio. But from what I read it can be wired in. From the ABS sensor I think.

so there is no need for the "K-LN" wire for the navi to function? only battery power, key power and gala wire?

with K-Line do mean the wiring between Navi and instrument cluster ?
this is not needed !

the blue/white with the speed signal you get at the instrument cluster

the k-line is the wire that let you scan the radio with a VAG tool for error codes.

also, since I have the old "green" instrument clusture is there a place to connect the speed sensor on it? is my clusture the same as the blue/red clusture. I know that some of the icons are placed differently but are the connections the same?

this is how my car is wired. this is the diagram off my old radio:

Ground/ Illumination Power/ Key power/ Blank
Battery Power/ Antenna Turn-On/ Speaker Plus (Dont know what this is but this is where the K-LN is on newer car)/ Alarm

which pin is the gala wire supposed to be connected to?

Er meint die K-Line vom OBD Bus.

Diese Leitung ist doch für den Betrieb des Navi's nicht nötig, nur kann man dann natürlich auch KEINE Fehler per OBD auslesen.

Oder lieg ich da falsch????

It definitly is possibel, I also set the MFD Navi in my 97er passat.
