How Can I Protect My Car Against Car Thieves ?

Hi Guys,

I would like to ask advice in how I can protect my passat against car thieves.

We only have one garage but we have three cars. So, this makes that two of them have to spend the night outside. Earlier this week we have heard that some thieves tried to steal one or both of our cars. The guy who has seen this all called the police but I don't know what the final result was. My passat has an alarm, my sister's golf as well. I geuss thats already a good start. Besides that I still use a bullock spedal lock.

There are probably other people on this forum who are in the same situation as I'm. How can I protect the best ?

i think that nothing realy helps
when they want to steal your car they will
the only thing that helps is an insurance

Yes, and I do have one.

Think I will have to buy a big bad Rott-weiler instead of our friendly Golden Retriever.


I'm going to figger some things out, but if someone has good alternatives please let me know.

Hi Johan,


When driving my Cabrio I had two different "Selfmade Thieves Protection Systems" (=STPS)

First was a hidden Microswitch to Powersupply of ECU

Second was a 12 V Switch with an red Key (as seen on Rallycars) to switch of complete 12V Supply

Both STPS were very cheap but enough effective to prevoid Carnapping. Better than any original System on which they are trained to crack it. :wink:
