Climatronic einbau

Hello, first I want to appologize for not speaking German. My German is very bad so I think it is easier for me to do it in Englisch. Reading German is OK. I have a Passat B3 2.8 V6 Synchro. The car has everything but the former owner was not interrested in airco. I did some searching but couldn´t find anything about installing a Climatronic in a car without airco. Do you guys have some info for me? As I understand the coplte dash need to be removed?

Hi,

I would choose to forget it. You would have to install everything starting with a compressor to cooler, complete new HVAC (heativ, ventilation, air condition) with evaporator and control motors, sensors, wire harness, ...

It would take uncounted hours of work and lots of money to to this. Buying another car with Climatronic would be much more easier if your're not exactly a hardcore self made guy.

Mmmmm..... I was expecting this bad news. I´m in for a challange and love to do it all myself. Including finding all the parts. But there is a limit.
Do I need to modify the body or is it a lot of bolts, screws and nuts. Reading wiring schema´s. Etc.

The best choice is to buy a wrecked car and put all the AC stuff into your car...

If you want to buy all the thing factory new at your local dealer...forget it...buy a new car with Climatronic...

A friend of mine has done this on a Golf MK3...and after that he says..never ever

Hi again,

somewhere in the forum (or was it the old one?) were once pictures of such a modification. Maybe try the search function.

The car looked totally wrecked and the amout of work was gigantic.

And the guy already had a manual climate control with compressor, cooler and so on by factory. He just wanted to upgrade from manual climate to Climatronic.

I think I go for the manual airco. Is the heater/airco unit under the dash for a Passat 3b the same as a Golf IV?
